Trading your home - a change away from using the secret MLS
Feb 27, 2010

Why can't you get publicly available information from the real estate agents.   Why are they asking for more of your financial information these days, before considering the effort to sell you  a home.  Why are banks not processing these foreclosures and short sales quick enough?  Why are banks not willing to accept the short sale offers to get these for sale and foreclosure signs removed from the lawns.    These yard signs are disturbing as they continue to multiply?

Oh, and for the homeowner, why is you're real estate agent charging you to pay a premium to list your home on websites.  Why can't they just expose what is on the MLS to the public?

MyHouse4Trade, leverages property information to bring homeowners together, currently its expandanding its effort to connect homeowners directly to a list of available real estate professionals to participate in ongoing conversations. Today this technology only resides within the individual realtor franchises, its proprietary - most of it, from the application to the source code. The culture is this way because everyting around it is build that way.  Hierarchical entities do not suit well in an open environment where information is shared or given freely. However, if the franchises were incentivized to share information and charge only a fixed fee for services rendered, we may see a totally new environment where everyone benefits, but at this point of time, I highly doubt it. Brokers and their agents will continue tooperate status quo, mainly because of greed.

In the past, the MLS was touted as the authoritative and trusted source for real property information, but the times have changed, partly due to the publicly and freely accessible information that always existed but was difficult or lacked a profit generated motive to exploit public data - but thank god for Google, and the likes, they have given every homeowner the

power that was only available to real estate agents. Now its a matter of building communities with common interests and their ability to integrate with others that will dominate the consumer market. This is where the

homeowner will turn to... the open source readily available data - whether

blessed by the National Association of Realtors or not -  CHANGE BEFORE YOU HAVE TO .... ;)
